Catherine Behan is a sculptor working in fabrication, model making, wearables, and tech.
Cat graduated with a dual-degree in Sculpture and Art & Technology from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. During her time in Chicago she founded an underground arts space, known as Hotel Kafka, which was a venue for experimental music, visual art, film, performance, and theatre. The Hotel Kafka, was an underground artist community and collective that was active for over a decade starting in the mid-nineties.
After moving to New York City, Cat became heavily involved in sculpture, working as a fine art fabricator for studios specializing in large works destined for museums, well known galleries and collectors as well as directly for fine artists.
In 2016, after the birth of her daughter Arcadia, Cat opened a small studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and began to focus on small wearable metalworks.
Currently, aside from wearable works, Cat started a shop called The Passenger (on hold, digital version coming soon) Her goal is to help create physical and virtual spaces that intersect the worlds of fine art, fashion, music, and technology.
